This series of audio conversations on the theme of development in Africa brings together specialists from a wide range of institutions. Alex Armand, resident member of Nova SBE NOVAFRICA Knowledge Center and Assistant Professor at Nova SBE is the coordinator of this Podcast.

The NOVAFRICA Student Group is a group of students from Nova SBE that promotes and supports NOVAFRICA activities and projects in Portugal and in Africa. Together, they also take over in its monthly special podcast.

Through interviews, panel discussions, and presentations, we share information about real experiences working in research and development economics.

Technology transfer in rice crop in Mozambique: from research to farmers

Adoption and diffusion of agricultural inputs are the stimuli for boosting yields and improve food security and nutrition in households in Mozambique. In his PhD thesis, Paulo Guilherme focuses on finding out the rice technology transfer setbacks, investigating rates of adoption and reasons for the low adoption in farmers and proposing measures for effective dissemination.

Farmer Participatory Experimentation in Mozambique

This project evaluate the impact of smallholder farmers’ own experimentation with new agricultural technologies on adoption of these same technologies.
