Nova SBE awarded at the 1st edition of the EFFAS Gasperini Awards

Professors Miguel Ferreira and José Tavares and Nova SBE PhD student Sharmin Sazedj were awarded the first edition of the EFFAS Gasperini Awards, where they represented Nova SBE

Miguel Ferreira, Vice-Dean for Faculty and Research at Nova SBE, along with Cláudia Custódio (Imperial College London), Emilia Garcia-Appendini (University of Zurich), and Adrian Lam (University of Pittsburgh and University of Amsterdam), won 1st place in the inaugural EFFAS Gasperini Awards with the paper “Does Climate Change Affect Firm Output? Identifying Supply Effects.”

Additionally, Professor José Tavares and Sharmin Sazedj, PhD in Economics, also won second prize for their impactful research with the paper “The Gender Gap at the Top: How Network Size and Composition Impact CEO Pay.” This study sheds light on the professional networks that influence gender disparities in executive compensation.

This is yet another proof of how research is central to our culture as it allows us to have a positive impact on the world.
