Mentes Empreendedoras was created to foster a generation of impact citizens and leaders able to transform themselves and their communities. This year we expect to serve about 5,000 young people. Also, under GlobalTeacher Prize Portugal and Inspire your Teacher, we are working to increase the stature of the teaching profession.
Afonso Mendonça Reis is the Founder of Mentes Empreendedoras since 2010. He was an Assistant Professor at Nova SBE and advised senior policymakers at the OECD in Paris and the United Nations in Geneva. Afonso has worked and traveled in over 70 countries.Website

Countries differ in their academic upper-secondary school systems whereby some require their students to choose a specialization track from a set of areas – typically natural sciences, economic sciences, or humanities – and follow that specialization for the course of their upper secondary education years whereas, by contrast, others follow a general curriculum in which students are not required to follow a single specialization and thus, may receive a more general education. Diogo Mendes recently graduated from the Nova SBE PhD program in Economics and Finance (here). Diogo has been working on several projects and research aiming at supporting developing countries — SDG goal 8 and 17.
