Finance Talks are monthly informal discussion sessions that bring together students, faculty, and invited corporate guests to discuss relevant topics in Finance.

These topics have been identified as major concerns by Nova SBE Master's in Finance students aiming at expanding their knowledge regarding qualitative and quantitative themes.

Students consider Finance Talks as a way to integrate theoretical knowledge gained in class with a more practical and real-life based knowledge.

More than 70 students attended the Finance Talk "Investing for beginners. How to get started?", held online on November 19 with guest speaker Luís Alvarenga from BPI.

After graduating from Management from Nova SBE in 2005, Luís started his investing career in Caixagest, and, in 2007, he joined Banif Investment Managers to run multi-asset class portfolios.

In 2011 he became a CFA chartholder and moved to BPI Gestão de Activos to manage pension funds.

Luís is a manager of multi-asset portfolios in BPI Gestão de Activos and leads the team of investment solutions that oversees bond and equity portfolios.

The next one is on Dec 3 – Finance Talk "The policy mix in Europe – monetary and fiscal policy" with Professor Pedro Duarte Neves, from Banco de Portugal
