Diversity and Inclusion by Jenny Hoobler

Jenny Hoobler was interviewed by Líder Magazine on the topics of diversity and inclusion, work and family. She stated that “diversity and inclusion are everyone's responsibility” and that “the mistakes of the past tell us that not focusing on diversity does not lead to diversity”.

Focused on teaching and research on the themes of Diversity and Inclusion, Work and Family, Jenny M. Hoobler is a graduate of the University of Kentucky but it is at Nova SBE that she assumes the position of scientific director of the Nova SBE Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center.

In September 2023, Jenny Hoobler shared with Líder her vision to make Diversity and Inclusion evident in recruitment processes and company dynamics.

After two difficult years for society due to the pandemic, Jenny Hoobler shares part of her conclusions according to her research, regarding the confinements. In this way, the management professor appeals to the effects of domesticity on working women and the importance of the caring role of the family being equally divided between men and women.

Jenny's speech focuses on the fact that 2023 is a decisive year for leaders to reset and reinvent their businesses and therefore inclusion and diversity policies have to be put into practice.

The professor believes that many organizations are postponing these types of efforts due to the political climate, but that the best organizations recognize that diversity is here to stay and so they will focus on the benefits that diversity can bring, such as increasing creativity and generating positive organizational climates.

Thus, Jenny ends her interview by saying that mistakes will always be repeated, and that indeed the road to equality is long and not linear, but that the best way to promote diversity and equality involves stumbling blocks for everyone. But staying the course is essential!
