9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure
The Design Thinking Roundtable is a podcast that explores various aspects of design and how it can create change and social impact. It is a collaboration between the DESIS Lab and the ERA Chair in Social Innovation at NOVA SBE with the Design Lab @ NYU MakerSpace. Originally conceived by Harshita Nedunuri and Anne-Laure Fayard, then co-created by Priyanka Vora. Since the Fall of 2019, it is conceived and produced by Anne-Laure Fayard. In this episode, Anne-Laure Fayard talked to Tonya Gayle, Executive Director of Green City Force (GCF) and an advocate for economic justice for young people of color. She led GCF’s development team from July 2014 to September 2020 when she became GCF’s Executive Director. She is a board member of The Corps Network focused on national service, and Environmental Advocates of NY focused on environmental justice. Prior to joining GCF, Tonya served in public-private partnerships at the New York Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Career Program. Tonya is a member of The New York Women’s Foundation Circle of Sisters for Social Change, a graduate of Wesleyan University, and a native Brooklynite. She is an associate producer of the 2006 documentary The Perfect Life featuring young adults from Harlem
