All. SDG Wheel

All. SDG Wheel

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Nova SBE launches the 4th edition of the Nova SBE Road to Impact Report!

We are pleased to announce that Nova SBE has just released the 4th edition of the Nova SBE Road to Impact Report, a document that aggregates the school's sustainability path during the last year, fully aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are the universal language regarding how the school addresses impact. The report merges with the Research Report, which compiles the most relevant research projects and studies developed by the school's knowledge centers.

In the more than 300 projects, studies, and other initiatives developed and implemented by Nova SBE that appear in the document, we highlight the following:

  • “The global impact of coastal water contamination on economic development” is the project of Nova SBE Professor Alex Armand, which brought the first-ever grant from the European Research Council (ERC) in Economics to Portugal
  • The EQUALNovaERA project is Nova SBE's most recent ERA Chair, which will position our school as a European reference in research on Inequality
  • Fundação "la Caixa”, BPI, and Nova SBE renewed the Social Equity Initiative partnership until 2024 to continue boosting the social economy sector in Portugal through research and training
  • Lastly, our 2022 research tackled 7 Sustainable Development Goals.

We are proud of our achievements.

The Nova SBE Road to Impact Report also describes how the school is engaging with its community and educating towards active and proactive citizens while leading the journey into a sustainable school. Here’s how:

  • We mapped everyone’s “role to play” by offering a bank of initiatives where community members could find and register to participate in projects or propose their own through the Nova SBE Role To Play – Get Involved platform
  • We held and organized the Nova SBE Sustainability Journey, focused on our purpose of reimagining the principles of management science, economics, and politics, along with the institutional ecosystem that frames them
  • Regarding our Walk the Talk, we also highlight the launch of our SDG Ambassador Program, ranking as a Transforming School (4 in 5) in the Positive Impact Rating, and the preparation of our roadmap into carbon neutrality

This was part of the Impact we generated in 2022. Thank you very much for your contribution.

Partnerships for Progress: The Role of Universities in Achieving the SDGs in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

This paper was hold by students in the following of Global Impact Mindset: UN SDG Module of NOVA SBE. The article highlights the crucial role of partnerships between universities, governments, and communities in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The article argues that these partnerships can help universities in LMICs to address the challenges of expanding research and academic capacity while maintaining equitable access, promote equitable access to education and research, and design solutions that are responsive to the unique needs and challenges facing these groups. The article also emphasizes that universities in LMICs can act as a bridge between different sectors, facilitating collaboration and cooperation towards the common goal of sustainable development.

We all have a role to play

We are on a mission to be a community dedicated to the development of talent and knowledge that impacts the world.

With just ten years to go, an ambitious global effort is underway to deliver the 2030 promise. We want to take a stand and we are calling on our community to showcase how they are contributing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, whilst influencing more and more people to unravel their role to play.

Here, you will find four different ways your ideas can flourish, dialogue can be enhanced, and action can take place. You can choose one or all four, and Nova SBE will be there to support you all the way and guarantee tangible change.

We all have a role to play, and this is your way in.
